In order to achieve this, the team leader for the design team has to have a lucid picture of what the site should look like right from the concept, designing to transaction conclusion.

(AP) ? For 16 years, Lokinder Kaur waited patiently for the day her husband would be reunited with her and their children. That dream died with him in a Sikh temple in Wisconsin.

Ranjit Singh, one of six killed in a shooting attack at the temple, never came home even once in all those years, working at a grocery store during the week and volunteering at the Sikh gurdwara on weekends. He promised his family he was doing what had to be done to get a green card so they could come join him.

He called every few days, even as the months dragged into years. Kaur said she spoke to Singh just the day before a gunman entered the temple in Oak Creek, Wisconsin, and shot worshippers as they prepared for services on Sunday.

Singh sang devotional songs at the temple and took care of worshipers, serving them meals. His brother, who died in the attack as well, often sang with him.

All Kaur was left with is a recent photograph of Singh, dressed sharply in a crisp shirt and tie and smiling confidently into the camera.

"My children keep asking me, 'What did papa look like?" she said, sobbing at her faded memory of her husband's face. "I have no answers."

When Singh first left for the United States his son was just 7 months old, his daughters 4 and 6. He had a visa for just six months.

"My husband had only one dream. To see his children settled abroad," Kaur said as she sat surrounded by grieving family and friends in her modest two-story home in a Delhi neighborhood.

To chase that dream, he kept renewing his visa, finally applying for a green card a few years ago.

"Every six months, he would tell me he would be home soon."

His daughters got married while he was away. His son grew up knowing him only as the voice on the phone, the image in the photographs.

"I just don't understand what happened over there. Why did they die," Kaur asked, sitting on the floor ? a tradition in an Indian house of mourning ? but leaning against a sofa, exhausted by her grief.

According to police, the gunman was a failed soldier who played in white supremacist heavy metal bands, but his motive remained a mystery.

With their turbans and beards, Sikhs are often mistaken for Muslims or Arabs, and have been targeted in post-Sept. 11 bias attacks in the U.S. The New York-based Sikh Coalition reported more than 700 incidents in the U.S. since 2001.

A short distance away from Lokinder's home, similar scenes of mourning cloud the home of her slain brother-in-law Sita Singh, who traveled back and forth routinely from India to the United States.

His wife, Surinder Kaur, first got word that something had happened in a 1:30 a.m. phone call from a relative, who said the brothers had been shot. Three hours later they were dead.

"It's just us women left all alone to look after our children," Surinder Kaur said.

Afghan parliament votes to oust key ministers

KABUL, Afghanistan (AP) ? The Afghan parliament voted Saturday to dismiss the country's defense and interior ministers, a move that threatens to throw the country's security apparatus into confusion as foreign forces withdraw.

The vote demanded the dismissal of two of President Hamid Karzai's key security lieutenants: Defense Minister Abdul Rahim Wardak, one of the top Afghan officials most trusted by Washington, and Interior Minister Bismullah Khan Mohammadi.

Legislators faulted the two for what they view as the government's weak response to cross-border attacks that Afghans blame on the Pakistani military, with lawmakers asking why Afghanistan has not launched a military response. The parliamentarians also asked the ministers about allegations of corruption within their ministries and alleged security lapses that led to recent assassinations of top officials.

The parliament then passed a measure to remove Wardak by a vote of 146 to 72. A separate vote of no confidence on Mohammadi passed 126 to 90. Both measures needed 124 votes to pass.

"Both ministers are disqualified from their positions and we request His Excellency President Karzai to introduce new ministers for these positions as soon as possible," Abdul Raouf Abrahimi, speaker of the lower house of parliament, said after the vote.

It is unclear if the two will immediately leave their posts. Parliament occasionally flexes its muscle to thwart Karzai's policies or appointments, but the constitution places most power in the president's hands.

Karzai's office issued a three-sentence statement acknowledging that Article 92 of the Afghan constitution gives the parliament the authority to disqualify ministers. Karzai's statement did not express any support or regret for the no confidence votes, saying only that the president would "make decisions about the disqualified ministers" after he meets with his national security team on Sunday.

In past no-confidence votes, Karzai has simply kept other ministers in their jobs in an acting capacity and dragged out the process of nominating replacements.

The U.S. Embassy in Kabul declined to comment on the parliament's action, referring questions to the Afghan government.

Among the criticisms of the two ministers was the government's tepid response to allegations that the Pakistani military launched hundreds of shells and rockets into the eastern Afghan provinces of Nuristan and Kunar last month, sometimes hitting homes and killing civilians along frontier areas where insurgents have staged cross-border attacks.

Karzai has been careful not to openly blame the Pakistani military for the artillery barrage, which reportedly hit districts in the eastern provinces of Nuristan and Kunar. Interior Minister Mohammedi and other top-ranking administration officials, however, have explicitly blamed Pakistan for the shelling.

Afghan military analyst Abdul Hadi Khalid, a former deputy interior minister, said he thinks the dismissal vote was less about the controversy over the cross-border attacks than a show of force by parliament.

He suspects that the lawmakers were reacting to allegations that they were a "useless parliament" that could not make decisions.

"So suddenly, the parliament made a decision to gain dignity from the nation and show that they can oust top security ministers," Khalid said. "These two ministers became the victims of the weakness of this government."

However, the parliament's action drew praise from Noor ul-Haq Holomi, a former general in the Afghan army and onetime lawmaker from Kandahar in southern Afghanistan, who said the lawmakers acted where Karzai failed to do so.

"There are others in this Cabinet who are corrupt. All these people are corrupt. They just sit and collect the money," he said.

"For 11 years, Mr. Karzai did nothing. Why didn't he say anything?" Holomi said. "He's lost the trust of the people."

Both Wardak and Mohammadi are longstanding members of Karzai's administration.

Wardak, who studied in the U.S. and speaks English fluently, has been long backed by Washington and the NATO military coalition. He has been defense minister since late 2004, and was deputy defense minister before that. In the 1980s, he was a well-known leader of mujahedeen fighters against the Soviet and Afghan communists.

Wardak has overseen massive growth of the army ? now 185,125-strong. In recent years, tens of thousands of soldiers have been recruited, given literacy and military training and sent to fight alongside foreign forces.

Mohammadi is an ethnic Tajik and former commander in the mujahedeen during the Soviet occupation of the 1980s, joining the anti-Taliban Northern Alliance in the following decade. He served as chief of staff for the Afghan National Army from 2002 to 2010.

As interior minister, he has been tasked with professionalizing the various Afghan police units, and the Afghan Border Police fall under his responsibility.

The votes of no confidence come at a critical time in the war, when Afghan police and soldiers are increasingly taking over responsibility from departing international troops, who are scheduled to leave Afghanistan or move into support roles by the end of 2014.

Afghan forces now lead security efforts in areas of the country that are home to 75 percent of the population.

I bought this because the Hoyle games got such bad reviews but this one has to be right up there on top of BAD! First of all after it downloaded, only the top half of the home page showed up. I was finally able to click "start" and it took me to the website to register the game. I did that, thinking that was how to get it to start working. W-R-O-N-G!!! It still didn't work. I tried re-booting, removing the program and re-loading. Nothing worked. Finally I removed it, contacted Amazon and got an immediate response for sending it back for a full refund. Would advise NOT to buy this product! Thanks Amazon for such great support and the best prices! That's why I check Amazon prices before anyone else's. They usually cannot be beat!

Options Increasing for Coping With Kids' Food Allergies

FRIDAY, Aug. 3 (HealthDay News) -- Kids with a serious food allergy generally have to steer clear of the offending food, but methods now under development could change that common scenario.

More than 3 million American youths -- about one of every 25 -- have a food allergy of some sort, usually to milk, eggs or peanuts, according to U.S. government statistics. For them, "avoidance has been the mainstay of treatment for a long time," said Dr. William Silvers, an allergist in private practice in Vail, Colo., and a spokesman for the American College of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology.

"Now what we're seeing is an increased interest in oral immunotherapy," Silvers said. "This means giving small and slowly increased doses orally of foods that children are allergic to, and building up the amount ingested over time to desensitize the child to the food so they can tolerate it."

That doesn't come string-free, though. Dr. Carla Davis, an allergist at Texas Children's Hospital in Houston, noted that once children have been desensitized to a certain food, they have to continue eating it regularly or they'll become allergic to the food again.

"There isn't a maintenance of tolerance if you avoid the foods," she explained.

Along with desensitization, another potential new treatment for food allergies is a drug called omalizumab (Xolair). Silvers said that it works by blocking the activity of the allergy-causing substance known as immunoglobulin E (IgE) so that an allergic reaction never starts.

However, the food allergy would come back if a person were to stop using the drug, which is currently available only in an injectable form and has not been approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for use in children younger than 12.

Some researchers, though, think that a combination of the two treatments might be better than either alone. Early reports from a very small study found that nine of 11 children who were given Xolair and then desensitized to milk were able to consume up to 12 ounces of dairy a day without a reaction.

Davis said that researchers also are testing herbal formulations and that one particular combination of nine herbs was able to prevent a serious allergic reaction, known as anaphylaxis, in mice. "It's another one of the treatments that may be up-and-coming," she said, though there's no evidence in humans yet.

What has been proven true, though, is that many kids simply outgrow their food allergies, even some of the most deadly ones. Davis said that as many as one in five youngsters may outgrow an allergy to peanuts but that allergies to eggs, milk, soy and wheat are most often outgrown. In general, peanuts, tree nuts and seafood allergies tend to stay with children as they grow, she said.

To know whether a child has outgrown a food allergy requires repeated skin and blood tests, Silvers said. "If IgE levels in the blood decrease over time, or if skin testing comes back negative or a very small reaction, a child or adult can be given a food challenge to see if they'll react," he said.

To be safe, though, the testing "must be done under a physician's supervision," Davis said, because a serious reaction could occur if the youngster has not outgrown the allergy.

For kids with lingering food allergies, Silvers recommended that the child or parent always carry the antihistamine Benadryl and an epinephrine injection pen. If it's suspected that the child accidentally ingested an allergy-inducing food, the youngster should take the antihistamine right away. If the allergic reaction worsens, administer the epinephrine and get to an emergency room as quickly as possible.

It's important to go to the hospital after a serious allergic reaction, Davis said, because there can be a second wave to the reaction about four to six hours later.

Many children have their own epinephrine pens at their school nurse's office. In Chicago, the public school system recently decided to take the next step and keep a supply of epinephrine pens in every school, and train school personnel in their use, so that they're prepared for any serious allergic reactions.

"This is a good idea because about one in five children have their first serious reaction in school," Davis said.

For those living with food allergies, Davis said, it's important to find a balance between being vigilant and being overanxious. Parents should be "prepared for a reaction, but shouldn't expect one all the time," she said. "Some parents become extremely anxious about the contact their child may have with food. Health vigilance is important, but so is quality of life."
